Front Office Manager
Chef Jenny has been a cooking teacher for many years. She is passionate about food and teaching the foundations. Her focus is on understanding the basics to create beautiful, tasty dishes. And – by using simple, easy-to-find ingredients – you’ll learn that it doesn’t need to cost a fortune, either!
Gerald has practiced pottery for many years and he sells his crafts at the Studio Elevenlee with his wife Kate in Darwin.
Josh’s earliest interest in ceramics came from a short workshop where participants manipulated a small ball of clay through the platonic solids. This led to further exploration over years through short courses, TAFE and university studies in ceramics, to eventually running his own home studio and facilitating adult and children’s short courses. Josh is passionate about throwing and altering forms to create musical instruments from clay, but also enjoys making functional kitchen ware inspired by his travels overseas.
Kate is a resident potter in Darwin. Kate and her husband Gerald have many years of experience, and also have taught at Tactile Arts. Kate's forte is hand building with clay and designing objects for around the home and garden. They have their own studio/shop in Darwin called Studio Elevenlee.
Drawing & Watercolour Tutor
Alison Worsnop lives in the Rural Area and has taught art to adults for quite a while. She exhibits her art work regularly and can be contacted through her website www.alisonworsnop.com or telephone her on 0417 881 854 if you would like to talk to her about the course.
Garment Making Tutor
Sandra is an experienced dressmaker who has successfully taught Adult Night Classes for 18 years. She will guide you through each stage of making your own garments.
Introduction to Sewing Tutor
Christine has been a practising artist for about 30 years and learnt to sew as a child, taught by her mother. She has continued to sew over the years, and has developed her skills to the point that she makes most of her own clothes. Christine thoroughly enjoys sewing and receives great pleasure from introducing people to sewing and sharing the little tips and short cuts that she has developed over the years.
Janie Andrews is a painter, textile and mosaic artist with over 30 years of experience of running her own company to create one off special artworks through commissions, residencies and for exhibitions.
Janie enjoys sharing her skills through workshops with people from many walks of life and spends a lot of time as a Visiting Artist to facilitate and create special artworks with artists and communities both remote and urban.
Chris Knight is a highly experienced professional photographer. Chris has taught photography, and Adobe Photoshop and Lightroom since the early 1990s. Chris also runs a successful photography company in Darwin.
Daniel has worked as an information technology (IT) professional since 2007. He finished Certificate IV in Computer Systems at Charles Darwin University in 2013. He is currently working as an ICT Coordinator for four remote schools in Catholic Education NT and is an ITIL v4 Foundation certificate holder.
Photoshop & InDesign Tutor
Born and raised in Darwin, Brooke is an award-winning professional with 10+ years' experience in graphic design and digital media. Brooke completed an Advanced Diploma in Graphic Design from the prestigious Tractor Design School in February 2016, and is an Adobe Certified Expert in Adobe InDesign CC. She has also completed a Bachelor of Communication majoring in Digital and Social Media, in November 2019.
Video Game Design Tutor
Dylan is a born and raised Darwinian who has returned after traveling the world. Dylan is the founder of local game development studio Larrikin Interactive, the winner of the NT Digital Excellent Awards 2021, and prior to game development Dylan enjoyed teaching entrepreneurship at universities such as RMIT. Dylan holds a Bachelor’s of Teaching and Learning (CDU), a Master’s of Applied Behaviour Analysis (Monash) and several Unity and programming qualifications.

Macarena Alamo Santos is a Spanish teacher from Madrid, Spain. She has taught Spanish for more than 5 years to middle and senior students as well as adults. Her Spanish roots are in Andalusia, in the beautiful Southern Iberian Peninsula. She also lived in Canada for more than 8 years, where she learned how to enjoy the cold and snowy winters of the Great White North. She is passionate about Spanish music, dance and culture and she takes every opportunity to share it with her students. Caterina Michielli is a teacher of Italian with a great passion for languages. She is a native speaker with a degree in Foreign Languages and a specialization Diploma in teaching Italian to Foreigners from the University of Siena (DITALS). She has taught Italian to different age groups (from primary to senior students and adults) in Darwin and in Italy and always enjoys sharing her language and culture with her class. Caterina believes that the real secret to learn a language is not just processing information with your brain but feeling the language with your heart and embracing the sounds, the culture, the differences, and similarities. Sun Young Kim
Kim Sun Young was born in South Korea and is a native Korean speaker. She always had an interest in teaching and completed her teaching qualification in Korea. She has since taught adults and children both overseas and in Darwin, and also volunteered back in Korea to teach tourists the Korean language. She has been teaching adult education since 2017. She loves teaching children and adults Korean culture and tradition and believes that Korean is beautiful and great to learn as a second language while living in Darwin.
Aurore Floury was born in Normandy in France and has several years of experience across the globe. She worked in the USA, Spain and Australia as a French Teacher. She enjoys travelling, movies and art. She is delighted to share her culture and loves to engage students through fun activities. Rendez-vous at Darwin Adult Short Courses!
Konichiwa! My name is Yuki and I'm excited to be your Japanese Adult Short Courses teacher. I was born in Kyoto, Japan. Kyoto is an ancient city with many beautiful temples. I moved to Australia in 2002, and since then have lived all over Australia. I love to travel and experience different cultures and I look forward to seeing you in the course!
Hua Tong has been exposed to magic since high school and fell in love with this art deeply. In university, he systematically learnt magic techniques and performances. He constantly tempered his magic skills through the communication and learning with other magicians in the Magic League. He was the president of the Magic Association of the University of International Business and Economics. As a magician of the university art troupe, he visited Saudi Arabia, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and the United States on behalf of China, and performed magic. He is the current president of the CDU Magic Club.
