Course Outline
Course Description: This is an 8 week course held every Thursday evening (6pm to 8pm). Spanish Continuers is for those who have completed the Spanish beginners course and would like to move to the next level. It is also suitable for those who know the basics (perhaps from high school, self study, or travel). This is a continuing course to the Spanish language and builds on the language proficiency gained over the previous beginners course. The course will continue to focus on the four main areas of foreign language study: listening, speaking, reading, and writing. The primary purpose of the course is to introduce students to the cultural influences of the Spanish and Latino heritage at home and abroad. Students in this course will learn Spanish basic vocabulary, speak words, phrases, and sentences in Spanish with the proper pronunciation and intonation. You will use appropriate formal and informal words and phrases in various social situations and write grammatically correct sentences and reading elementary texts written in Spanish. Your instructor: Janette Thomas is a Spanish teacher, trained at La Trobe University in Melbourne. She has over ten years’ experience teaching Spanish in Melbourne secondary schools and in Darwin. Jan travels to Spain regularly to study and remain current with language trends. Her passion is learning and using Spanish through study, travel, reading Spanish novels, watching Spanish films and many WhatsApp Spanish conversations with friends in Spain, USA and Costa Rica. Course fees will not be refunded once confirmation and/or commencement of the course has occurred. In the event of a serious illness, you may request to transfer to the following term. A full refund of course fees will be paid if the advertised course does not proceed. Participants will be advised if a class does not have the minimum number of students to commence.
