Term 2: Photography Level 2 - 3 weeks

Course outline Have you completed our Photography Essentials course? Then this is the next step for you! Do you want to push the limits of your photographic experience and knowledge? The Level 2 course assumes that you will have sound existing experience in photography (Photography Essentials), and wish to get more from your camera and advanced settings. This is a 3 week course, running every Wednesday from 6:30-9:00pm. This course will confirm essential knowledge about the parts of your camera and its control; (body – lens – shutter – aperture), caring for and cleaning our gear, and making good exposures. You will be given theory and practical exercises including field trips to put the knowledge into practice. OUTCOMES: Students who complete this course will gain an understanding in the following: • Advantages and limitations of digital image capture. • Image file management & output; print, Internet, email. • Advanced exposure options, and metering systems. • White balance, the colour of light. • Understanding and controlling Depth of Field. • Understanding and controlling motion. This short course is made up of 3 individual lessons tailored to suit you, so be sure to ask plenty of questions! Course Outcomes Students who complete this course will gain an understanding in the following skills and knowledge: • Learning to use your digital camera • Digital camera controls • Principles of exposure systems and correct exposure (Auto/manual) • Digital image capture and its benefits and limitations • Downloading and saving digital images as files - JPEG vs RAW • Photographic techniques to achieve varied effects • The best Automatic Settings to use • Caring for our camera and lenses About your tutor Chris Knight is a highly experienced professional photographer. Chris has taught photography, and Adobe Photoshop and Lightroom since the early 1990s. Chris also runs a successful photography company in Darwin. CANCELLATION AND REFUNDS Please choose carefully as course fees will not be refunded to participants who are unable to attend the course due to changes in personal circumstances or work commitments. Course fees will not be refunded once confirmation and/or commencement of the course has occurred. ​In the event of a serious illness, you may request to transfer to the following term. A full refund of course fees will be paid if the advertised course does not proceed. Participants will be advised if a class does not have the minimum number of students to commence.
