Course Outline

5 Saturdays: April 6,13,20,27 and May 4th 1-4p.m Over this 5 week course, students will have the opportunity to complete a mosaic table top for use in their own home. Participants are asked to source a small wooden table 40-60cm width on which to mosaic. A certain range of tiles will be supplied. Participants may supplement these supplied tiles with other colours. Over the five week course, participants will be guided in the use of materials and mosaic techniques with support in design, fabrication through to completion of their mosaic artwork. Students are encouraged to source designs prior to attending this course. What will I learn? • Learn how to turn inspiration into a mosaic design • Prepare mosaic base • Understand the relationship between design and textures • Transfer your design to base • Prepare, cut and fix tiles to base • Receive mentoring as your work towards completion of mosaic • Practice finishing techniques such as grouting, cleaning and polishing About your teacher Janie Andrews is a painter, textile and mosaic artist with over 30 years of experience of running her own company to create one off special artworks through commissions, residencies and for exhibitions. Janie enjoys sharing her skills through workshops with people from many walks of life and spends a lot of time as a Visiting Artist to facilitate and create special artworks with artists and communities both remote and urban. Course fees will not be refunded once confirmation and/or commencement of the course has occurred. ​In the event of a serious illness, you may request to transfer to the following term. A full refund of course fees will be paid if the advertised course does not proceed. Participants will be advised if a class does not have the minimum number of students to commence.
