Course Outline

Starts Tuesday evening 6 October 2026 Dates: Tuesdays 6-27 October and 3-24 November 8 weekly– 3 hour sessions Artist’s soft pastels are a fast, direct and easy-to-use medium which can be used to draw and paint in vibrant colours and with creative self-expression. Soft pastels can be combined with charcoal, natural ochres, pastel pencils and other media for greater definition and self-expression. They are a perfect way to start - or continue - your art journey. In this evening course of 8 weekly 3 hour sessions, we will explore and discover what pastels can do. Using animals, still life, flowers and Northern Territory landscapes as our reference and inspiration, we will investigate a range of techniques from the traditional to the experimental. Sessions will include tutor demonstrations, reference images, slide shows and practical drawing exercises. Come and spend some quiet time in like-minded company, relaxing and creating with pastels. Artist’s soft pastels and other materials are included in the course fee. CANCELLATION AND REFUNDS Please choose carefully as course fees will not be refunded to participants who are unable to attend the course due to changes in personal circumstances or work commitments. Course fees will not be refunded once confirmation and/or commencement of the course has occurred. ​In the event of a serious illness, you may request to transfer to the following term. A full refund of course fees will be paid if the advertised course does not proceed. Participants will be advised if a class does not have the minimum number of students to commence.
