Course Outline

Willkommen bei DASC! Students will build on the skills developed in the beginners course. They will learn how to describe what they like to do in their free time, such as play sport or a musical instrument, and improve their understanding of German grammar eg word order. Course participants will also learn how to name family members and count to 100. Furthermore, emphasis will be placed on correct gender and plural usage and how to express possession and negation. Listening, speaking, reading and writing skills will all be developed through the use of modern and engaging course materials, multimedia and fun classroom activities. Depending on student preferences, a classic German-language film (with subtitles) might be viewed in the final lesson. Your Tutor: Martin has been teaching French and German for more than a decade and has several years' experience teaching adults in evening colleges in Canberra. He now brings this experience to Darwin! Along with being a qualified secondary school teacher, Martin holds a Bachelor of Arts (BA) with a double major in Economic History and Advanced French and a Diploma in European Studies (German Studies) from the University of New South Wales (UNSW). He is also a German citizen through his mother. Martin is passionate about language and will ensure you learn more than you expect in a laid back, low pressure environment. CANCELLATION AND REFUNDS Please choose carefully as course fees will not be refunded to participants who are unable to attend the course due to changes in personal circumstances or work commitments. Course fees will not be refunded once confirmation and/or commencement of the course has occurred. ​In the event of a serious illness, you may request to transfer to the following term. A full refund of course fees will be paid if the advertised course does not proceed. Participants will be advised if a class does not have the minimum number of students to commence.
