Course Outline
Course outline In this course we will explore making pottery for the garden working in Terracotta clay decorating with slips and underglazes and raw firing. We will be working with moulds and formers using hand building techniques to sculpt and create work that can be both functional and decorative for your garden. If students have some competency on the wheel the tutor will support them to use this method to create their works. The first weeks; Will be devoted to making and creating our garden master pieces; there will be a focus on lanterns to light our gardens for the dry season, bird baths and bird feeders to sustain our feathered friends and totems to mark our gardens for us! For those students that wish to incorporate the use of recycled materials this will be supported and encouraged by the tutor. The final week of our course will be devoted to completing the decoration of our work and preparing our pots ready to load in the kiln for firing. So get on “Instagram”, “Pinterest” and get out in that garden. Get inspired to make the best room in the house even better for this dry season.
