Course Outline
A drama course teaching the fundamentals of acting and staging a short play, with the chance of learning both performance and stage management roles. The play will be staged for a live invited audience in the final week! You'll have the chance to experience: - Acting and character development. - Voice and body work. - Play analysis, production and direction. - Stagecraft, including costume, makeup, props and stage management. A huge amount of fun, and a great way of making new friends, theatre can provide excellent development in team work, facing fears with public speaking and performance, as well as developing communication skills and creative thinking. It also provides roles for actors or non actors if behind the stage is more your thing. Students get to choose from a limited set of plays and they would experience the things to consider when analysing under guidance. All play options will be in public domain, so no licensing issues (with abridged Shakespeare options and various short one act plays as choices). Homework would of course be line learning, though also creatively thinking and collecting costumes/props on a shoestring. As there would be nights needed for assessing plays, casting, rehearsals, technical and dress plus performance, this requires an 8 week course. About your tutor David is an excellent tutor with a background within the graphic design and publication worlds over the last 20 years, working within the public health sector as well as a sole trader with a variety of clients.
