Course Outline

Course Outline: This is mainly for beginners who don’t have prior skills in this beautiful age old craft of quilting. However, there is always space for those who have dabbled in the craft but wish to take it a step further and for the next six weeks take the opportunity of learning more skills. Join your experienced tutor who will guide you through different patterns, help choose appropriate fabric and plan your very own quilted project. COURSE REQUIRMENTS: - Sewing machine (there are sewing machines available at the school to use) - Scissors, pins, needles, tape measure, washable marking pen, quick unpick - Rotary cutter, cutting mat, ruler (some of these are available in class, but you will need these items for homework) LEARNING OUTCOMES: - Fabric colours and values - Understand and apply purchase requirements - Cutting using rotary cutter, ruler and cutting board - Piecing and sewing techniques - Inner and outer boarders - Binding and labelling - Reading and interpreting a pattern Your instructor: Elizabeth has been a patch worker since 1974. She has conducted sewing classes at Spotlight, patchworking classes at Casuarina Senior College night classes (for 10 years) and is also a small business owner - 'How Sweet It Is' (Darwin). CANCELLATION AND REFUNDS Please choose carefully as course fees will not be refunded to participants who are unable to attend the course due to changes in personal circumstances or work commitments. Course fees will not be refunded once confirmation and/or commencement of the course has occurred. ​In the event of a serious illness, you may request to transfer to the following term. A full refund of course fees will be paid if the advertised course does not proceed. Participants will be advised if a class does not have the minimum number of students to commence.
