Course Outline
Course outline Survival Sewing will give you the skills to deal with those simple sewing tasks such as sewing on buttons and other essential running repairs to your clothes. Over four weeks together we will master the art of basic hand sewing, needle and thread selection, a portfolio of basic stitch techniques and a handy tool kit of shortcuts for emergencies. You will learn how to: sew on buttons, take up a hem, repair a tear, sew straight, sew different types of seams, and learn the basics about fabrics. You will then move on to the sewing machine to learn some basic stitches and functions, and finally some easy beginners sewing projects. Feel great as your sewing improves and your confidence grows! Your Tutor: Catherine McAlpine is a lady with a totally creative background which includes photography, fashion design and dressmaking.
