Course Description: This is a 10 week course held every Wednesday evening (6.30-8.30pm). Spanish Beginners Level 2 is for those who have completed the Spanish beginners course and would like to move to the next level. This is a continuing course to the Spanish language and builds on the language proficiency gained over the previous beginners course. The course will continue to focus on the four main areas of foreign language study: listening, speaking, reading, and writing. The primary purpose of the course is to introduce students to the cultural influences of the Spanish and Latino heritage at home and abroad. Students in this course will learn Spanish basic vocabulary, speak words, phrases, and sentences in Spanish with the proper pronunciation and intonation. You will use appropriate formal and informal words and phrases in various social situations and write grammatically correct sentences and reading elementary texts written in Spanish. Your instructor: Macarena Alamo Santos is a Spanish teacher from Madrid, Spain. She has taught Spanish for more than 5 years to middle and senior students as well as adults. Her Spanish roots are in Andalusia, in the beautiful Southern Iberian Peninsula. She also lived in Canada for more than 8 years, where she learned how to enjoy the cold and snowy winters of the Great White North. She is passionate about Spanish music, dance and culture and she takes every opportunity to share it with her students. If you are interested about Spanish language and culture, join Macarena’s class and get started with this beautiful language! Spanish is the primary language of 20 countries worldwide and there are more than 400 million native speakers of Spanish, making it second only to Chinese, in terms of the most spoken languages in the world.
