Service Description

What is it? This is a full-day Sunday workshop starting at 10 am and finishing at 3:30 pm, with a lunch break in between. Objectives of course: We aim to offer students and practitioners of the potter’s wheel, a one-day intensive throwing workshop, to help students build on their own skills and develop their own styles. The tutor will introduce some new techniques for the workshop while also working with students to assist them to improve and build upon their own skills and develop their throwing discipline. Requirements of the course: It is expected that all students would have completed a minimum of 1-2 classes on the wheel. A wheel, tools, and clay are supplied, however, if students have their own tools or wish to work in their favored clay this is encouraged. PLEASE NOTE: There is no firing component to this workshop, alternative options for firing will be offered on the day at extra cost. You will be provided with 1 bag of clay for this workshop, included in the price of the course. On the day: You will commence at 10 am with a short demo from the tutor and a discussion on what students are looking for help with, you will then move on to the throwing and creating on the wheel until we break for lunch and networking. While at lunch, pots will be set outside to dry and get ready for turning and final construction in the afternoon session. The workshop is programmed to end at 3.30 with a debrief of the day and options for firing. About your teacher: Gerald has practiced pottery for years and has a studio in Darwin where he sells his crafts at the Studio Elevenlee with his wife Kate.
