Pastel Landscapes Soft pastels that artists use, are also known as chalk pastels. These are a fast, direct and easy-to-use medium which can be used to draw and/or paint in vibrant colours and with creative self-expression. Soft pastels are a perfect starting point for your art journey. Course Outline: In this 4-week evening course of weekly 3-hour sessions, we will explore and discover what pastels can do. Using Northern Territory landscapes as our reference and inspiration, we will investigate a range of techniques from the traditional to the experimental. Delivery of the sessions will contain expert tutor demonstrations, with tuition both group-based and individual. You will find your new understandings and self-confidence grow as you produce beautiful pastel drawings and paintings. You’ll receive some take-home Handouts to inspire you and be able to enjoy viewing many examples and masterpieces of pastel drawing and painting in class on the many screens in the classroom. All students are encouraged to find their own inspirational images and to create develop their own image style. All materials will be supplied without add-on charges. This course takes you through the basics of: • Materials and methods • Choosing, editing and transferring images • Composition and design • Perspective • Colour theory and mixing Suitable for Adults from absolute beginners to artists who wish to re-visit on their drawing practice. Course fees will not be refunded once confirmation and/or commencement of the course has occurred. In the event of a serious illness, you may request to transfer to the following term. A full refund of course fees will be paid if the advertised course does not proceed. Participants will be advised if a class does not have the minimum number of students to commence.
