Course Outline

Expressionism art workshops for children: Series of 4 x 3hr workshops which can be booked individually or as a series of all 4. Tuesday 6th, Wednesday 7th, Friday 9th and Saturday 10th January 2026 Age group: 6 to 13 years Workshop series will include: 1. "The Scream" 2. Eco art 3. Self portraits in the style of famous artists 4. Fabric collage Children's Art Workshop: "The Scream" Children will create their own backgrounds and pose with a printed screaming face. The workshop is playful, creative, and welcoming to all skill levels. Ideal for children aged 6 upwards. Workshop Objectives • Introduce children to expressionism art, in particular Edvard Munch's "The Scream." • Build foundational art skills; colour blending, line direction, composition and background. • Integrate photography for creative self-portraiture as part of the art piece. • Introduce how Munch used swirling lines and bold colours to show strong feelings. • Celebrate individuality and self-expression through art. • Ask "What makes you scream?" encourage fun, relatable ideas such as spiders, surprise. ________________________________________ Workshop Schedule * Welcome and Inspiration * Demonstration and Template set up * Painting the Background * Pose and Photo Time * Assemble Final Artwork * Gallery Walk and Wrap up ____________________________________ Materials Provided • Art supplies, pencils, paints, brushes, • String, masking tape, staplers, scissors, glue sticks • Bring in your favourite coloured yarn to add texture to the background of your artwork About your Tutor Tamara is a local artist but also has teaching experience. She has 25+ years teaching all levels from kindergarten to university, including art teaching, special education and English as an additional language.
