Course Outline
Course Outline 8 weeks - 2 hour 30 minutes sessions Using a variety of drawing media: pencil, charcoal, quill pen and ink, we will revisit the essentials of drawing: making expressive lines and marks; different ways of rendering tone, light and shadows; linear perspective, foreshortening, and measuring; and composition. We also explore different approaches to drawing such as isometric and flattened perspective and experiment with less usual media such as powdered charcoal and graphite. Drawing objects ‘from life’ when possible, the course will include: tutor demonstrations, handouts and practical student exercises. The class room features an excellent overhead projection system for sharing diagrams, masterpieces of drawing, interesting natural forms and the built environment. The course will be fun and flexible! So if there is something you particularly want to cover, let your tutor know and she can include it.
