Beginners course to drawing essentials. Wherever you are on your art journey, it is never too soon or too late to acquire or refresh your drawing skills, so if you are a beginner feel free to join. Drawing is the foundation of all visual art and leads naturally into pastels, watercolour and other media. Join us to revisit essential techniques and basic darwin shapes with a range of exercises and demonstrations, while looking at the complex line, shape and forms of nature. You will also be introduced to different drawing media, such as pen, ink and pastel. The aim is to introduce students to the language of drawing, build confidence and inspire the enthusiasm to keep drawing and enjoy the process. Students will be encouraged to work by direct observation of real objects: still life, found objects and artifacts rather than copying photographs. The tutor will demonstrate in all sessions and give individual help as required. Some printed handouts will be available and the Centre's excellent display system will be used to show examples of masterpieces. Course Outline In this 6-week afternoon course of weekly 3-hour sessions, we will explore and practice some of the essential language of drawing, such as: • Composing with line to suggest volume and form • The square and rectangle in nature and perspective • The circle, ellipse, flowers and leaf forms • Cylindrical forms and trees • The circle, sphere and human form • Textures, rhythms and imagination For a seniors discount of 10% use coupon code SENIOR at check out - ID will be checked at class register.
