Service Description

Course outline Dinner for 2 is an opportunity for pottery students with some experience to take time to design and construct an intimate body of work suitable for the kitchen and dining table. Students are invited to create vessels to both eat food from and cook food in and to create pieces to set mood and atmosphere for the dining experience. All work will be fired to cone 6 [1220c] and must be food safe. Clay and a range of underglazes and food safe glazes will be supplied. Students will be encouraged to use both the wheel and hand building techniques to make their wares for this course. This is a 5 week course. The first 4 weeks will be devoted to deigns and making of the dinner setting, and week 5 will be all about getting your work ready for the kiln! - Homework Every student is asked to bring a note book/pad, with their ideas and deigns for their proposed dining experience; this will be vital so that we can iron out construction techniques and options on the 1st night. - Week 1 Students will work with the tutor to complete their design and finalize their construction requirements for the course - Weeks 2, 3 & 4 This is the time where we take our deigns and ideas from paper and pen and make them in clay and ready them for decoration and glazing. - Week 5 This is the time to get our pots glazed and in the kiln for the gloss fire and for the reveal next week. Course fee includes glazing and firing your pieces. About your teacher: Gerald has practiced pottery for years and he sells his crafts at the Studio Elevenlee with his wife Kate in Darwin.
