Course outline If you have a little experience using a computer, and want to develop digital skills, gain confidence working with office applications, surfing online news, sending and receiving emails, or just be in touch in social networks with your family and friends, this essential ICT (Information and Communications Technology) course is perfect for you. You will start the journey to the modern universe of computer technology and digital data, and will learn step by step the basics of computer literacy with our experienced and passionate tutor, Sergei. He offers you comfortable rhythm of exploring actual topics, focusing on your personal learning needs and proficiency level, a lot of practical activities, getting answers for your questions, working in groups and individual consultations, and much more for mastering your skills as a member of a computer curious community. The first part of the course consists of eight lessons about common computer scope and using experience: 1. Computers: how they work, and how to work with them 2. Operational systems and computer software 3. File types and operations 4. Introduction to Microsoft Office 5. Using Internet resources and services 6. Basics of multimedia making and editing 7. Digital everyday services and entertainments 8. Mobile devices and smart home environment About your tutor: Sergei has been working as an information technology professional, project manager, tutor, and consultant in educational innovation since the 2000s. He has university degrees in Educational Studies, Economics and in Computer Science. He is passionate about modern computing with a particular focus on how to deliver ICT to improve educational and creative practices. Currently, he works with the Department of Education, providing technical and methodological assistance, project support to STEM education teachers and students at Darwin High School.
