Montessori Watercolour Critters For children ages 4 to 9 yrs old (parent/carer welcome to stay with child) A calm, small-group art session exploring line, form and colour through seasonal storytelling and outdoor observation. The 2-hour session includes: • A structured metal inset lesson (oval and curved forms inspired by eggs and baskets) • Watercolour pencil exploration and layering techniques • Seasonal storytelling and poem • A guided outdoor “shape hunt” in the garden to encourage observation and imaginative drawing • Creation of an Easter-themed critter composition using watercolour The focus remains process-led and Montessori-aligned, with an emphasis on controlled line work, pattern, composition and creative independence. About your tutor: Hello, I'm Maria. I’m a multidisciplinary Darwin artist creating art that moves, inspires, and connects. Guided by mindfulness and ethical practice, I work across wearable art, sculpture, painting, drawing, performance, and creative workshops. My practice is deeply human, organic, and rooted in curiosity, storytelling, and imagination. From my earliest memories, art has been my companion. As a child, I explored the world with a suitcase of fabric scraps, clay, stamps, and natural treasures — sewing, crafting, and collecting stories. My neighbourhood in Darwin was a playground of creativity, where children rode bikes, kicked soccer balls, and made up adventures that sparked my imagination. These experiences shaped my belief that creativity thrives in play, observation, and emotional connection. This activity is based on the Montessori metal insets lesson. I'm a trained and experienced Montessori teacher- I taught at a Bilingual Montessori school in Germany. I trained in Montessori - UK & USA. Cancellation Policy
CANCELLATION AND REFUNDS Please choose carefully as course fees will not be refunded to participants who are unable to attend the course due to changes in personal circumstances or work commitments. Course fees will not be refunded once confirmation and/or commencement of the course has occurred. Joining a course after it has started is at the discretion of administration and the course tutor therefore full course costs may still be incurred. In the event of a serious illness, you may request to transfer to the following term. A full refund of course fees will be paid if the advertised course does not proceed. Participants will be advised if a class does not have the minimum number of students to commence.
