Course Outline
Course Outline: This 6 week course covers all areas of Adobe Photoshop at an introductory level. As part of the Creative Suite, Adobe Photoshop is the ultimate image editing software. This class aims to give you a basic understanding of the program's features. You will learn how to create, edit and manipulate images to achieve professional quality results. In-class exercises will be a selection of: • Where to find free (and legal) stock images and fonts to use in your creative projects • Create a rainbow coloured eye effect • Create a 3D pop-out photo effect • Use Adobe Camera RAW to fix an underexposed photo (i.e. a photo taken on a camera with a removable lens) • Create an A4 poster for a bike riding event • Make a motivational quote meme for Instagram • Make a simple animated promotional GIF for a jewellery business • Create a photomerge (make a panoramic photo by stitching multiple photos together) • Create a simple social media advertisement for a cafe • Retouch/fix an old, damaged photo • Create a custom watermark and add it to your photos • Create a confetti Photoshop brush • Make a surreal “jellyfish alien invasion” photo manipulation Requirements Students are encouraged to bring a memory stick and any electronic copies of their own photos that they would like to edit. Students do not need any Adobe software licenses for this course. Windows computers and Adobe software are provided in class, and free trials of Adobe software are available to practice at home. The Adobe software is almost identical on Windows and Mac computers. A basic level of computer knowledge is expected. The tutor will provide technical assistance with the Photoshop program. By the time you finish this fun, hands-on, project-oriented course, you'll be well on your way to expressing yourself with this industry-standard photo editing software. Your Tutor: Born and raised in Darwin, Brooke is an award-winning professional with 10+ years' experience in graphic design and digital media. Brooke completed an Advanced Diploma in Graphic Design from the prestigious Tractor Design School in February 2016, and is an Adobe Certified Expert in Adobe InDesign CC. She has also completed a Bachelor of Communication majoring in Digital and Social Media, in November 2019. CANCELLATION AND REFUNDS Please choose carefully as course fees will not be refunded to participants who are unable to attend the course due to changes in personal circumstances or work commitments. Course fees will not be refunded once confirmation and/or commencement of the course has occurred. In the event of a serious illness, you may request to transfer to the following term. A full refund of course fees will be paid if the advertised course does not proceed. Participants will be advised if a class does not have the minimum number of students to commence.
